18 of September

Today 18th of September is our national day, we celebrate the first independence movementes by Chileans (Spanish descendants) when the Spanish king Ferdinad II was captured by Napoleon and replaced by Napoleon's brother, in 1810. Our independence came 10 years later on February 12, 1818.
The picture you see above is our national dance, the "cueca". This day is celebrated with BBQs, empanadas, traditional Chilean games and cueca. Unfortunatly few people know how to dance cueca, we didn't like it at school... shame on us! There are also rodeos and children like rising kites.
Now we are going to my grandparent's for lunch to celebrate de "18th" as we call it. Cheers!
